So, NaNoWriMo officially ends tomorrow, and for once I completed something with time to spare.
Despite both my girls getting horribly (and disgustingly) ill over the last few days, while working and homeschooling and holiday shopping and making sure my house isn’t buried under a mountain of dirty laundry and dishes I managed to hit the 50k [...]

Writing 50,ooo words in one month is certainly easier than lifitng an X-wing fighter out of a swamp with just my mind.
So I gotta take that short little green Jedi Master’s advice and get to it it – not try to make my goal, but do it.
It’s crunch time for NaNo writers everywhere, the last [...]

I’ve learned a few things along my NaNo 2009 journey, some of which I already knew: like trying to write when the kids are around is simply FFF: (Freakin’…or Flippin’…or the other less polite choice) Futile and Frustrating. I can blog with the kids afoot, literally. Lil G’ is pulling on my leg as I [...]

One of my beloved Monday Muses, Miss Aimee of Artsyville, recently posted some materials she created for a workshop on lettering she taught at KU.
One of the hand-outs she created was a stream of consciousness instructional “lecture” on how to just let go and create. I am totally stealing her words and applying them to [...]

It’s been awhile since I’ve burned the midnight oil so many nights in a row, probably not since Miss A was a screaming cranky mess of a baby (Lil G has been a good sleeper pretty much since day 1, BLESS her).
Trying to squeeze NaNo writing time into my day just isn’t happening, so I [...]

No, this is not another post about NaNoWriMo…though I’m finding it an incredible way to practice my craft. As I mentioned over at fellow Test Driver Tami’s blog when she asked what people expected to get out of it:
I am a fly by the seat of my pants kind of writer – and this story [...]

The scene sprint turned out to be quite productive. I logged just over 3k and got out at least one well developed scene and left plenty of ideas in limbo but with a promising start. Some highlights from Thursday’s scene sprint:
-my heroine performs the Big Mac rap for a man who reminds her of some cross [...]

Yesterday my NaNo count was barely above 100 words, and those pathetic few were snuck in while Miss A did her math and Lil’ G ripped a bookshelf apart.
I did manage to log 7miles on the treadmill while Lil’ G napped and Miss A played dress up and watched some library DVD of Hannah Montana [...]

I just downed 3 nice size glasses of Pinot Grigio and a fun size pack of peanut m&m’s (stolen from Miss A’s Halloween stash…it’s ok, she doesn’t like the ones with peanuts). I am feeling better: relaxed, and attempting to not feel guilty that instead of hitting the treadmill to pound out a few miles [...]

1 day of writing down and 29 to go…I managed to get 5k of words down, which gave me a nice start, I think. Even on the first day it was a little difficult, once I had jumped the first hurdle: finding some free time away from the husband, Miss A & Lil’ G, I [...]
