I was playing the role of multi-tasking maven today to the hilt as I put the finishing touches on the script, double checked all the music, got Miss A’s homeschool lesson plans together for the week, actually taught a bit of those lessons, ran over to this week’s Biggest Loser weigh-in (down 3 lbs, yeah!), and that’s on top of the usual feeding and cleaning and dressing of children and laundry and dishes.

We did accept the lovely invitation to play in a friend of  a friend’s pool before it closed for the summer.  I’m glad I let Miss A have that hour of fun…yes my schedule was full and hectic, but summer is almost over and you only live once. She had an awesome time (Lil G gad fun too).

I also managed to squeeze in a shower and plan the dance choreography for the show’s first song.

So you know what? I’m my own muse today!

After years of working for other theatre companies I have my own. Zip Zap Zing Children’s Theatre Co. is officially under way!  Summer camp classes started Wednesday and it all went quite well! I am starting small, with no advertising (unless you count leaving business cards at every Starbucks I traipse through in the county). Lucky for me, I have quite a few contacts between my work at Little Gym, the on-line mom’s group I assistant organize, and the homeschool group I belong to. From that pool, one class is at capacity and the other is nearly at half. I am also very lucky to have awesome friends – 1 who encouraged me to start this whole process in the first place (mainly because she wanted her kids to take my classes). She owns a Pilates studio and has set up a deal for me where I get to use her space to teach my classes, and her secretary handles all the business-y type stuff like taking payments and getting waivers signed. We split the income from the tuition, but my share is very generous. Another friend went out of her way to arrange the use of a stage for our performances…see how lucky I am?

I am little afraid the business will grow faster than I am prepared for…but I’m not going to punch a gift horse in the mouth…or whatever that expression is. We’ll just take it day by day and enjoy the ride.
