Holiday Trees at Disney World: Wilderness Lodge

This December I got to do something I’ve long wanted to do…I got to spend part of the most wonderful time of the year in the most magical place on earth. Yep, I’m talking Christmastime at Disney World.

Ever since my family got back from our first trip to Disney World three years ago, I’ve known I wanted to come for a visit during the winter holidays. Yes, Disney is magical any time of the year…but an extra sprinkle of wonder gets added during Christmas.  And while I knew when I wanted to go on our next Disney vacation, I was less sure of where I wanted to stay. I knew I wanted a resort closer to the Magic Kingdom – the husband had his eye on the Contemporary, and I…being a little more price-conscious, was considering the Port Orleans Riverside resort.

It was our travel agent, Lori Bandera of SmallWorld Vacations (who we used to help plan our first trip in 2009), who suggested the Wilderness Lodge to me. It hadn’t even been on my radar for consideration, but I did some quick research on the web, and once I saw a few pictures of what the resort looked like during Christmas…

from the immense fireplace…
to the cabin in the North woods atmosphere…
to the amazing, show-stopping Christmas tree that fills their lobby…

 I was SOLD.

The tree soars into the rafters of the lobby, and you can’t help but stare up at it in wonder.

I’ll talk more about the resort itself later, but for now, let me just say if you are considering a trip to Disney World during Christmas, the Wilderness Lodge is the hotel to book…even Minnie approves.
