20 minute workouts – will it be the solution?

Never a very thin person, I have struggled with my weight before my age reached double digits. I have always been athletic and fairly decent with sports, so working out is not a problem – in fact, I enjoy it! I like running, lifting weights, taking step, kickboxing or other classes. I love yoga and pilates. My problem, like just about everyone’s – is lack of time. My most recent fitness mag included a program in which you work out 20 minutes a day, everyday. Since becoming a Mom (4 years ago next month) my fight against fat has been extra hard, so I’m willing to try anything. I’m on day 5 and have been faithful – but I’ll let you know as things progress.  Interested to try this yourself? Have a look.

You may have noticed

That it was almost a year from my first post on this blog (in May of 2006) to the time I actually began to attend to my blog-life in earnest (March 2007). All I can say is: working on this blog was on my list of things to do, and well, it’s a freakin’ long list.
Since blogging is proving as therapeutic as brownies fresh from the oven or a great workout  – I plan to indulge as often as possible. Oh man, now I want some brownies – thank God I don’t have access to any, I probably gained a couple pounds just thinking about it.

Empire Falls…asleep?

Well, currently I am reading Empire Falls for my bookclub (and yes, we do more than drink wine, thank you!) Wow, I don’t plan to have insomnia for the next week while I force-feed this down my literary gullet. It’s ok, the characters are mildly interesting, the plot is mildly escalating, and the setting is mildly imaginative…and I’m mildly nodding off. I think I called the big conflicts of this book while reading chapter 1, and am mainly continuing to read it beause A: I refuse to leave a book unfinished (except for Virginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse, and I plan to go back and read that one day, damn it!) and B: I just want to make sure my predictions on the heavy-handed but trying to be subtle forshadowing are right. I’ll let you know, but now, I’m going to nap read.

Time vacuum

Although I already fret that I don’t have enough time to do the things I need to, the things I want to, and the things I should do – here I am adding a new drain on my time – this website. Hopefully, the time spent (or wasted, depending on your point of view) will become a useful endeavor; allowing me to organize thoughts, plan goals, share ideas, vent anger, reduce stress, and rule the world. Um, maybe not that last one.
